Course Curriculum

The BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography program provides a structured curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience to develop skilled and professional Diagnostic Radiographers. In the first year, students build a foundation through modules such as Introduction to Radiation Science, Systemic Anatomy and Physiology 1, Principles of Clinical Reasoning in Medical Imaging, Concepts of Interprofessional and Collaborative Practice, and Medical Imaging Practice 1. These modules introduce students to the scientific principles of imaging, human anatomy and physiology, clinical reasoning, and collaborative healthcare practice, alongside initial hands-on experience in imaging techniques. The second year focuses on advancing technical skills and clinical understanding through modules including Medical Imaging Modalities, Systemic Anatomy and Physiology 2, Medical Imaging of Pathology and Disease Processes, Appraising Evidence for Research Informed Practice, and Medical Imaging Practice 2. This stage emphasizes the application of imaging principles to real-world clinical scenarios, integrating research evidence into practice. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge and leadership skills through modules such as Professional Identity, Autonomy and Accountability, Interpretation of Medical Imaging, Contemporary Issues in Medical Imaging, Improving Quality, Change Management and Leadership, and Medical Imaging Practice 3. The program balances academic learning with practical placements, equipping graduates with the expertise, professional judgement, and confidence required to produce high-quality diagnostic images, deliver patient-centered care, and succeed as qualified Diagnostic Radiographers in a fast-evolving healthcare environment.
