Course Curriculum

The International Public Management and Policy (IMP) master’s programme is designed to provide students with the concepts, tools, and theoretical frameworks necessary to analyse complex, multi-level international issues. It equips graduates with the skills required to address transnational challenges and contribute effectively to public management and policy-making in international contexts.The programme is structured into four blocks and combines a variety of learning formats, including modules, seminars, simulations, working group sessions, and guest lectures. A key component is professional development, which prepares students for careers in international public management. Students have the opportunity to visit international and European institutions in Geneva and Brussels to gain first-hand insight into their work. Additionally, training in negotiation skills is offered through simulations led by renowned specialists. Career preparation is further supported through workshops and meetings with alumni, focusing on networking, resume writing, and pitching oneself effectively in the job market.The curriculum is organised as follows: Block 1 covers Comparative Public Policy, European Union Policy-Making, Global Governance, and a professional development module preparing students for the labour market. Block 2 includes Europe in the World, International Public Management, and International Organisations and Development. Block 3 focuses on research training and the development of the final research project proposal or master’s thesis, including courses in research design and methods. The fourth block is typically devoted to the completion and submission of the master’s thesis.Through this combination of academic instruction, practical training, and professional development, the IMP programme ensures that students are well-prepared to tackle global policy challenges, work effectively in international organisations, and contribute meaningfully to public management in multinational and multicultural environments. The programme emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application, fostering graduates who are capable, adaptable, and ready to make an impact in their chosen careers.
