Course Curriculum

The one-year MSc in Business Information Management (BIM) is designed to provide students with a strong foundation at the intersection of management, business, and technology, preparing them for careers in digital innovation and data-driven decision-making. The programme begins in the autumn semester with compulsory core courses worth 24 EC, where students acquire both a management and a technical grounding. These courses establish the essential skills needed to understand, design, and manage information systems that drive organisational success in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. In the spring semester, students select 18 EC worth of master electives, with the flexibility to choose one elective from another MSc programme, enabling interdisciplinary learning. The programme also allows students to specialise further in either digital business or data science, depending on their interests and career ambitions. Alternatively, students may choose to replace one elective with the BIM Company-Based Research Project (CRP), which provides a valuable opportunity to apply academic knowledge directly to real-world business challenges in collaboration with leading companies. For highly motivated and talented students, the extracurricular BIM Honours Course offers a challenging and practice-oriented experience that enhances their professional and academic development. Throughout the year, students work on their master thesis project (18 EC), which allows them to explore a specific topic in-depth and demonstrate their ability to conduct independent, high-quality research. The combination of rigorous academic coursework, practical opportunities, and specialisation options ensures that graduates of the MSc in Business Information Management are well-prepared to address the growing demand for professionals who can bridge the gap between technology and business.
