Course Curriculum

The Accounting major within the Asper Bachelor of Commerce program offers a range of comprehensive courses that build progressively to develop students’ expertise in financial reporting, taxation, auditing, and management accounting. The course sequence begins with ACC 1100: Introductory Financial Accounting, which lays the foundation by teaching the basics of financial statements and accounting principles. This is followed by ACC 2010: Intermediate Accounting – Assets and ACC 2020: Intermediate Accounting – Equities, which delve deeper into accounting standards and the treatment of various financial elements. ACC 3040: Cost Accounting introduces students to internal reporting and decision-making tools used in managerial contexts. ACC 3080: Canadian Income Taxation focuses on the principles of taxation applicable to individuals and businesses in Canada, providing a critical understanding for tax planning and compliance. ACC 3530: Accounting Information Systems examines the design and use of systems that collect and process financial data. In upper-level courses, ACC 4010: Auditing covers the principles and procedures of auditing financial statements, while ACC 4040: Advanced Managerial Accounting explores complex topics in performance measurement and strategic cost management.
