Course Curriculum

The Veterinary Office Administration program spans eight months and is designed to prepare students for a career supporting veterinary professionals in clinical and administrative settings. In the first semester, students build a foundational understanding of animal behaviour, anatomy and physiology, laboratory procedures, client relations, and professional practices, while also developing communication skills through courses like Communicating Across Contexts. Hands-on training in animal handling, basic pharmacology, and laboratory techniques ensures students gain practical experience essential for working safely and effectively with animals. In the second semester, the curriculum advances to include animal and clinic care, therapeutic handling, grooming skills, surgical assisting, and radiology, complemented by large and laboratory animal handling. Students also learn about animal nutrition and develop career management skills through field placement opportunities, preparing them to integrate into professional veterinary environments. Emphasis is placed on ethical conduct, client communication, and professional practices, equipping graduates with both technical competence and interpersonal skills. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience, students gain the expertise to perform administrative duties, assist veterinarians, support animal health and wellness, and deliver compassionate care to clients and their animals, ultimately graduating ready to succeed as veterinary assistants.
