Course Curriculum

The UTS Graduate Diploma of Construction Management provides a comprehensive and industry-aligned curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required for leadership roles in the construction sector. This program can be completed in one year of full-time study or over two years part-time, offering flexibility for working professionals. Students begin with core units that cover essential topics such as construction technology and regulation, management principles, cost planning and control, time, quality and risk management, project communication, HR, and contract management. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience with the latest technologies used in the construction industry, including tools for cost estimating and building information modelling (BIM). This practical engagement ensures graduates are ready to apply modern methods and digital tools in real-world construction projects. In addition to core subjects, students have the opportunity to tailor their learning through one disciplinary elective, allowing exploration of areas such as taxation, real estate, asset management, or entrepreneurship, depending on their career goals. The program integrates theoretical frameworks with practical applications, emphasising project planning, integration, and communication across multidisciplinary teams. By completing this course, graduates will develop the skills necessary to manage complex construction projects, make informed decisions, and deliver outcomes that meet client, regulatory, and industry expectations. The Graduate Diploma also provides a pathway to further study, such as progressing into the Master of Project Management, enabling students to expand their expertise and career prospects. Upon completion, students will be well-prepared to take on senior roles in project management, construction planning, and operational leadership within the built environment sector, combining technical knowledge with strategic and professional capabilities.
