The Bachelor of Banking and Finance is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of financial systems, banking practices, and decision-making processes in organisations. The course is divided into four parts: core studies, discipline studies, capstone studies, and elective studies. Core studies provide foundational knowledge in banking and finance and their impact on organisational decision making, ensuring students gain a broad understanding of the sector. Discipline studies develop professional skills and the ability to apply banking and finance knowledge to solve real business problems, with some units meeting requirements for professional accreditation bodies. Capstone studies consolidate knowledge and skills, offering experience in multi-disciplinary decision making and integrating learning from across the course. Elective studies give students the flexibility to deepen their understanding of banking and finance or explore broader business topics, with the option to take units from across the university. The course requires completion of 144 credit points, comprising 18 credit points of core studies, 72 credit points of discipline studies, 6 credit points of capstone studies, and 48 credit points of elective studies. Progression through the course is guided by a structured course progression map, which outlines recommended unit enrolment for each semester. Graduates of the program may also have the opportunity to progress to further studies, such as the one-year Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), provided they meet academic requirements including achieving a distinction average in Level 3 studies and completing specific units necessary for honours entry. This structure ensures that students gain both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for a successful career in banking, finance, and related fields.
