Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Science degree structure for Trimester 2, 2025, offers a flexible and specialised pathway for students pursuing a career in science. Students who need to meet English language requirements must complete the "Language and Communication for Sciences" course in their first trimester, replacing an elective. The program requires completion of 240 credit points, including 100 credit points from core courses, 60 credit points from one chosen major, and 80 credit points from a flexible module. Students can choose from five streams: Chemistry, Applied Maths and Physics, Biosciences, Environmental Sciences, and Archaeology and Geography. One of the available majors is Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, offered at the Brisbane South (Nathan) campus. This major includes six key courses: Protein Science, Metabolism, Biotechniques Laboratory, Molecular Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, and Applied Bioinformatics, totaling 60 credit points. These courses provide students with a deep understanding of cellular and molecular processes, laboratory techniques, and bioinformatics tools that are essential in scientific research and biotechnology. The curriculum is designed to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical lab skills to prepare students for work in medical research, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and related fields.
