The Bachelor of Dental Technology degree structure for students commencing in Trimester 1, 2026, requires the completion of 240 credit points from core courses. Students who are required to meet English language proficiency must complete the Language and Communication for Health course (5902LHS) during their first trimester. Students who require English language support will also complete Language and Communication for Health (5902LHS), which runs across multiple trimesters. In Trimester 2, students build on this foundation with subjects such as Applied Oral Biology (1019DOH), Laboratory Practicum 1 (1101DOH), and Prosthetic Technology 1 (1201DOH), which focus on applying scientific knowledge in a dental laboratory context. The second year includes Prosthetic Technology 2 (2202DOH) and Laboratory Practicum 2 (2220DOH) in Trimester 1, followed by Prosthetic Technology 3 (2203DOH) and Laboratory Practicum 3 (2205DOH) in Trimester 2. These courses introduce more advanced laboratory techniques and fabrication of dental prosthetics. In the final year, students complete Prosthetic Technology 4 (3031DOH), Laboratory Practicum 4 (3220DOH), and participate in real-world clinical simulation environments. Healthcare for Australia's First Peoples (3121FPH) is offered across Trimesters 1 and 2 and ensures students are equipped to provide culturally responsive care. Trimester 2 also includes Health Practice Management (3008AHS) and the capstone course, Evidence Based Professional Practice and Research (3033DOH), where students integrate clinical knowledge with research and professional practice skills. This comprehensive structure ensures students graduate with the theoretical understanding and practical experience needed for a successful career as a Dental Technologist.
