This year emphasizes both theoretical learning and hands-on skills, ensuring students are well-prepared for more specialised study.In the second year, students deepen their understanding of environmental processes and management techniques. Core topics include Physical Hydrogeology, Water Quality and Pollution, Catchment and Urban Hydrology, Earth Observation Fundamentals, and Environmental Change and Human Health. Students also choose one elective to further broaden their knowledge and skills. This stage of the program focuses on applying scientific principles to analyse and solve real-world environmental challenges, integrating technical skills with an understanding of ecological, social, and policy considerations.The third year emphasizes advanced study, applied research, and professional practice. Core topics include Ecology and Geomorphology of Coastal Environments, Coastal Processes, Geology of Australia, NCGRT Australian Groundwater School, Ecohydrology, Soil and Climate, and Field Studies in Environmental Disciplines. Students also select one option topic and one elective, allowing further specialisation and exploration of interdisciplinary interests. This year combines classroom study, fieldwork, and data analysis, providing practical experience and critical problem-solving skills essential for professional practice.By the end of the program, graduates have developed a strong foundation in environmental science, practical field experience, and analytical skills, preparing them to pursue careers in conservation, environmental consultancy, resource management, sustainability planning, and research, or to continue with postgraduate study in specialised areas.
