Course Curriculum

The two-year social work program is structured to provide a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and extensive fieldwork experience. In the first year, students begin with foundational courses such as Foundations of Social Work Theory and Professional Social Work Practice, which introduce key concepts and develop essential professional skills. The curriculum then covers Social Work Practice with Groups and Communities, Social Policy, Development & Impact, and Social Work Practice in Diverse Contexts, broadening students' understanding of working with various populations and social policies. The year culminates with a substantial 45-credit Social Work Field Education placement, giving students 140 days of real-world experience under professional supervision.In the second year, students deepen their knowledge with courses like Contemporary Social Work Theories and Practice and Social Work Practice with Children, Young People and Families, focusing on specialized areas within social work. The curriculum also includes Law and Ethics in Social Work Practice, which addresses the legal frameworks and ethical considerations essential for professional conduct. Social Work Research introduces students to research methodologies applicable to social work, enhancing their ability to evaluate and contribute to evidence-based practice. The course Integrative Social Work Practice helps students synthesize their learning for holistic client support. The program concludes with another intensive 45-credit Social Work Field Education placement, reinforcing applied skills and professional readiness. Together, these components prepare graduates for confident, competent practice in a wide range of social work settings.
