Course Curriculum

The Master of Professional Psychology program is structured over one year of full-time study, providing a comprehensive combination of theoretical coursework and professional training. In Semester 1, students begin with Psychological Assessment, which focuses on developing skills in evaluating mental health and cognitive functioning. Adult Psychopathology explores mental disorders in adult populations, while Clinical Intervention teaches evidence-based therapeutic techniques used in psychological treatment. Professional Practice: Stage 1 provides an introduction to applied skills in a supervised clinical setting, allowing students to begin integrating theory with hands-on experience.In Semester 2, students progress to Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, gaining insight into psychological disorders affecting younger populations. Diversity and Inter-Professional Practice addresses working effectively across different cultures and within multidisciplinary teams, a key skill in today’s diverse clinical environments. Research for Practice equips students with the tools to critically evaluate and apply psychological research in clinical decision-making. The year concludes with Professional Practice: Stage 2, where students continue developing their applied skills through further supervised placement. Throughout the program, students must complete at least 300 hours of practicum experience across university and external clinical sites, ensuring they graduate with the foundational competencies needed for provisional registration and a pathway to general registration as a psychologis.
