Course Curriculum

The Master of Computing by Research is a specialized postgraduate degree designed for students who want to undertake advanced, independent research in the field of computing. Candidates are supported by a Principal Supervisor, appointed with the approval of the Research Higher Degrees Sub Committee and the relevant School, ensuring expert guidance throughout the research journey. The program typically requires between 1.5 and 2 years of full-time study and culminates in the submission of a thesis of approximately 40,000 words, which is externally examined to assess its originality, analytical depth, and contribution to the field. This research-focused degree is ideal for those interested in exploring complex computing topics such as data science, cybersecurity, software engineering, artificial intelligence, or systems design.
