Course Curriculum

The Master’s in Cybersecurity is a two-year program designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, analytical skills, and practical experience needed to manage and respond to cybersecurity challenges in modern digital environments. In the first year, students build foundational skills through subjects such as Networking and Security, Foundations of Programming, The Data-Driven Professional, and Introduction to Cyber Security Fundamentals and Practices. These courses introduce essential concepts in computer networks, programming logic, data literacy, and basic cybersecurity principles. In the second semester, students advance into broader professional development and specialised security topics. Courses like Professional Research and Communication and Leadership in IT Project Management help students build key research, presentation, and leadership skills. Meanwhile, Electronic Commerce Security and Network Operating Systems and AWS Cloud provide hands-on experience with secure online platforms and cloud-based systems. The second year of the program is more research-focused and allows for targeted exploration of emerging cybersecurity fields. In Semester 1, students begin a two-part Masters Project that spans both semesters, allowing them to explore a specific problem or area in depth. Alongside this, they study Data Analytics for Cyber Threat Intelligence and choose an elective subject, offering the chance to tailor learning to specific interests or career goals. In the final semester, students complete the Masters Project while studying Cyber Risk and Incident Management and Privacy and Trust. These courses address critical areas such as breach response, risk mitigation, data protection, and ethical practices in managing personal and organizational data. A second elective allows for additional specialisation. Throughout the program, there is strong alignment with industry trends, including exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies and preparation for AWS Certification. With a blend of technical and leadership training, this course prepares graduates for roles in cybersecurity across various sectors, including finance, healthcare, education, and government.
