Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) is a structured three-year program that prepares students for a professional career in accounting and finance through a blend of academic knowledge and real-world experience. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in business and accounting principles. Semester 1 includes units such as Fundamentals of Accounting and Finance, Introduction to Economics, Introduction to Management, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation, each worth 15 credit points. Semester 2 focuses on expanding core business knowledge with Fundamentals of Law, Introduction to Marketing, Statistical Methods, and the Professional Identity (Business) unit, which helps students begin developing their career goals and professional skills. In Year 2, the curriculum deepens students’ expertise in accounting and legal frameworks. Semester 1 includes Commercial Law, Corporations Law, Corporate Accounting, and Business Information Systems. Semester 2 shifts focus toward more advanced financial topics, including Corporate Financial Management, Income Tax Practice, and Financial Accounting, alongside one elective that allows students to explore a specific area of interest. Year 3 is centered on practical, hands-on learning through the Co-operative Model. In Semester 1, students complete two major industry placements: Co-operative Placement 1 and Co-operative Placement 2, each worth 30 credit points. These placements offer valuable professional experience in real business environments, helping students apply their academic learning while building industry connections. Semester 2 rounds out the degree with advanced accounting subjects including Management Accounting, Auditing and Ethics, and Tax Law, plus an additional elective. Overall, this program is designed to ensure students graduate with both the technical accounting knowledge and the practical experience needed for careers in public accounting, corporate finance, government, or consultancy, with a strong focus on employability, ethics, and professional growth.
