The Master of Project Management at Edith Cowan University is a two-year coursework program designed to build a solid foundation in project management principles with a strong business focus. The course is structured into 12 units, each worth 20 credit points, totaling 240 credit points. It prepares students to lead complex projects across various industries by combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, taught by both academic experts and experienced industry practitioners. In Year 1, Semester 1, students begin with core management and foundational project topics: Managing People and Organisations, Managing Project Scope and Stakeholders, and Project Scheduling and Control. These units introduce students to key project elements, including stakeholder engagement, time management, and organisational behaviour. Semester 2 focuses on financial and operational aspects of project delivery with units in Project Cost Management, Project Integration and Procurement Management, and Project Risk and Quality. In Year 2, students build on their foundational knowledge with advanced and emerging practices. Semester 1 includes Agile Projects, Project Leadership, and Data-Driven Managerial Decisions—developing adaptive thinking, leadership capability, and analytical skills for project environments. Semester 2 focuses on strategic execution and contemporary methods with Contemporary Approaches to Project Management and Program Management. These units prepare students to manage large-scale and multi-project programs within organisations. To complete the course, students choose between a Project Management Capstone or a Management Practicum in their final semester. The Capstone allows for in-depth research or project simulation, while the Practicum offers real-world experience through industry placement or consultancy work. This well-rounded structure ensures graduates are equipped to design, implement, and lead projects in any sector. It also supports the development of critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills necessary to contribute to the advancement of the project management profession and deliver value in diverse organisational settings.
