Course Curriculum

The Master’s in Management Information Systems is structured to equip students—both IT and non-IT professionals—with the knowledge and practical skills required to apply information and communications technology in a business environment. The course spans two years and consists of 12 units, each worth 20 credit points, for a total of 240 credit points. The program blends core technical foundations with strategic management concepts to address the complex intersection of technology and business.In Year 1, Semester 1, students begin with foundational units: Programming Principles, Information Systems Challenges in Management, and Business Systems Analysis. These units provide the technical grounding and managerial context for understanding how IT systems support business operations and strategy. In Semester 2, students focus on organisational behaviour and data systems through Managing People and Organisations, Databases and Business Intelligence, and Project Management. This mix ensures that students develop both technical competency and leadership capabilities.Year 2 deepens the focus on enterprise-level systems and strategic IT applications. In Semester 1, students study Business Process Management, Cyber Security, and IT Value Realisation, preparing them to analyse and improve IT-enabled business processes and ensure the security and value of digital assets. In Semester 2, students take Enterprise Architecture and complete a Capstone Integration Project, where they apply their learning to real-world scenarios. Additionally, students choose one elective from specialised areas: Enterprise Resource Planning, Program Management, Data-Driven Managerial Decisions, or Machine Learning.
