The Master of Communication is a comprehensive two-year program that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s fast-changing communication landscape. With a total of 240 credit points across 11 units, the course blends theoretical understanding with practical application, preparing students to lead strategic, ethical, and inclusive communication efforts across various industries. In the first year, Semester 1 focuses on developing foundational skills through units such as Communication Techniques, Strategic Communication, and Social and Digital Media Communication. These subjects provide a solid grounding in message design, audience engagement, and the use of digital platforms to communicate effectively. In Semester 2, students explore creativity, innovation, and responsibility through Design Thinking, Ethical and Responsible Communication, and Creative Communication. These units encourage students to think critically about their role as communicators and how to craft meaningful, responsible messages that resonate with diverse audiences.Year two builds on this foundation by deepening students' understanding of inclusive practices and visual storytelling. In Semester 1, students undertake Inclusive Communication, Visual Communication, and Preparation for Communication Project. These units prepare students to create accessible and inclusive content and to plan for the major capstone project in their final semester. In Semester 2, students engage with more complex topics through Issues Management and Crisis Communication, where they learn to navigate and respond to high-pressure scenarios, protecting organisational reputation and maintaining stakeholder trust. The program concludes with the Communication Capstone, a 40-credit-point unit that allows students to apply their learning in a substantial, research-based or practice-oriented project.Throughout the course, students are guided by experienced academics and industry professionals and encouraged to challenge conventional thinking while developing advanced analytical, creative, and strategic communication skills. Graduates will be well prepared to work in a wide range of roles and industries, from media and public relations to corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors.
