Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Arts is a 360 credit point degree designed to provide students with a flexible and comprehensive education in the humanities and social sciences. Students are required to complete at least one Arts Major, which consists of seven units totaling 120 credit points, from a selection that includes English, History, Human Behaviour, Media and Cultural Studies, Politics and International Relations, and Sociology. To further tailor their education, students may choose to complete a second Arts Major or a Minor, selected from the same list or from additional minors such as Communication, Creative Writing, or Indigenous Studies.Those who opt to complete two Arts Majors must undertake both capstone units—Industry Project Capstone and Research Project Capstone—each worth 30 credit points, to meet the requirements of both majors. These final-year capstones allow students to apply their knowledge in practical or research-based contexts, enhancing their professional or academic readiness.In addition to their major and minor choices, students can personalise their study plan further by selecting elective units from across the School of Arts and Humanities or other disciplines, including options like Human Resource Management, Sustainability, Biology, or Project Management. Students also have the opportunity to apply for professional internships and placements through units such as Professional Experience: Internship and Professional Placement 1, which provide valuable real-world experience.This structure allows students to build a degree around their interests and career goals while developing highly transferable skills in research, analysis, communication, and critical thinking. With its broad scope and diverse subject offerings, the Bachelor of Arts prepares graduates for careers in media, education, policy, government, non-profits, and more, or for further academic study.
