Course Curriculum

Discover how each program is uniquely designed to inspire learning

To complete Deakin’s Bachelor of Communication, students must successfully complete 24 credit points. This includes three credit points of thematic core units and three credit points from the employability sequence, both designed to build essential communication and career-ready skills. Additionally, students must complete either two majors (eight credit points each), with at least one major in a communication discipline, or one communication major (eight credit points) along with a minor (four credit points). The remaining credit points can be fulfilled through a second minor, open elective units, or a combination of both. Students are required to complete the zero-credit-point unit "Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin" during their first study period. The course also enforces structural rules: no more than 10 credit points can be completed at level 1, and at least six credit points must be at level 3. Each unit typically carries one credit point. Full-time students usually complete four credit points per trimester across two trimesters per year, allowing for timely progression through the program.
