The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at Curtin University is structured over four years to provide a comprehensive grounding in psychological theory, research, and applied practice. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in psychology, professional health practice, and brain and behaviour. Core units include introduction to psychology, science and professional practice in psychology, foundations of psychology, and biostatistics and epidemiology, alongside electives that allow students to explore areas of personal interest.In the second year, the focus shifts to core psychological domains and research methods. Students study psychological science experimental methods, social psychology, child developmental psychology, and the psychology of learning. Elective options in health promotion, public health, exercise and sport psychology, and health psychology enable students to tailor their studies to their career interests, while practical experience through internships supports the application of theoretical knowledge.The third year develops advanced understanding and research skills, with units in cognition, individual differences, abnormal psychology, mixed methods research, and community psychology. Students explore adult development, qualitative research methods, and Indigenous and cross-cultural psychology, enhancing their ability to address diverse needs in applied contexts.In the fourth year, students undertake a specialised honours or fourth-year psychology stream, focusing on advanced research and professional preparation.
