Course Curriculum

Discover how each program is uniquely designed to inspire learning

The Bachelor of Innovation course structure is designed to progressively build students’ business knowledge, innovation capability, and practical experience over three years of study. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation in core business and innovation concepts. Semester 1 focuses on communication, culture, and Indigenous perspectives in business, financial decision making, strategic career design, and an introduction to innovation principles, ensuring students gain essential professional, financial, and creative-thinking skills early in the degree. In Semester 2, students strengthen their analytical and contextual understanding through analytics for decision making, markets and legal frameworks, and design thinking. They also select an alternate core unit such as design computing, business programming, or 3D design practice, allowing them to build technical or creative capabilities aligned with their interests. In Year 2, the focus shifts toward leadership, responsibility, and specialisation. Students study project management and responsible innovation and leadership, developing skills to manage complex projects while aligning innovation with ethical and sustainable practices. Alongside these core units, students complete a substantial component of their chosen major, minor, or specialisation. Options span a wide range of disciplines, including business, science, design, environment, law, arts, and social sciences, enabling students to tailor their degree to a single professional pathway or a multidisciplinary skill set. Semester 2 of Year 2 includes a sustainable business innovation project, where students apply their learning to real-world challenges, supported by an applied experience such as a business clinic, internship, study tour, or international project. In Year 3, students refine their professional focus through advanced innovation and experiential learning. They choose between entrepreneurship or international management, further supported by another applied learning experience that strengthens industry exposure and global perspective. The degree concludes with the business innovation lab and management of innovation units, which integrate strategy, leadership, and innovation practice. Overall, the course structure combines foundational learning, flexible specialisation choices, and immersive real-world experiences to prepare graduates as adaptable, globally minded, and responsible innovators.
