The Master of Agriculture (with specialisations) at Charles Sturt University is a 96-credit point postgraduate program designed to prepare students for leadership roles in modern, sustainable agriculture. The course begins with a core set of four subjects (32 credit points) that cover key areas including agricultural production systems, sustainable practices, agricultural communication, and the role of agriculture in achieving global development goals. These subjects provide students with a solid foundation in both the practical and strategic aspects of contemporary agriculture.Students then have the option to specialise in one of three areas: agricultural business management, digital agriculture, or sustainable agriculture. The agricultural business management specialisation helps students build expertise in agribusiness operations, supply chain management, and risk analysis. The digital agriculture stream focuses on the application of advanced technologies such as GPS, remote sensing, and data systems to improve agricultural efficiency and productivity. The sustainable agriculture specialisation explores the environmental, social, and economic factors that influence the long-term viability of agricultural systems. To further tailor their education, students complete an additional 32 credit points through a wide range of restricted elective subjects. These electives cover topics such as agribusiness planning, climate change adaptation, soil and water management, crop protection, GIS and remote sensing, conservation, environmental auditing, and leadership. Students who do not wish to pursue a specialisation can instead complete 64 credit points entirely through electives, with at least 32 points at the postgraduate level. This course is part of an articulated program, allowing flexible entry and progression from graduate certificate to master's level depending on prior study and experience. Students may complete the program in as little as one and a half years, with accelerated options available. In 2024, the program also offers Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP), making it more affordable for eligible students. This course is ideal for professionals seeking to advance their careers in agriculture, sustainability, agribusiness, or rural development.
