Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management at Charles Sturt University offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to blend agricultural science with core business and management skills. Students complete 176 credit points, including 168 from core subjects and 8 from a compulsory subject selected from either industry practice or international experience options. The program includes foundational subjects such as Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Systems, Biology in Agriculture, Livestock and Plant Production Systems, and Soil Science. It also integrates essential business-focused units like Agricultural Finance and Business Management, Human Resource Management, Business Law, Agricultural Marketing, and Risk and Investment in Agribusiness. Higher-level subjects such as Precision Agriculture and Data Handling, Agribusiness Planning, and Livestock Management prepare students to apply innovative, evidence-based strategies in real-world agricultural settings.The program emphasizes both practical and theoretical learning, offering a major planning project in Agribusiness Planning (16 credit points) and encouraging students to participate in either local industry placements or international study experiences. Students are also required to complete 16 credit points of unrestricted electives, with suggestions including Pastures and Rangelands or Extension, particularly for those aiming to work in animal enterprises. A limit of ten Level 1 subjects ensures depth in learning as students progress.Additionally, the course includes First Nations cultural awareness through the subject “First Nations Foundations: Knowing, Relating and Understanding Country,” enhancing students’ understanding of land and community relationships.
