Course Curriculum

The Graduate Diploma of Specialist Education requires the successful completion of 80 credit points, offering a comprehensive pathway for educators to deepen their expertise in specialised areas of education. The course is structured to include 20 credit points of core units and 60 credit points of specialist elective units. The two compulsory core units—Contemporary Issues in Education and Research Methodologies in Education—equip students with an advanced understanding of current educational challenges and the skills to conduct meaningful research in diverse educational contexts.Students then choose one specialist elective stream, allowing them to tailor their learning to their professional goals and interests. The available streams include Digital Learning Futures, Inclusive Education, Indigenous Knowledges Education, International Education, Managing and Leading Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and University Teaching and Learning. Each stream comprises a combination of theoretical and practice-oriented units that explore emerging educational technologies, leadership strategies, inclusive teaching methods, intercultural communication, and Indigenous knowledge systems, depending on the area of specialisation.For example, students focusing on Digital Learning Futures engage with subjects related to digital cultures, mobile learning, and educational technology, while those pursuing TESOL gain advanced knowledge in language teaching methodologies and intercultural communication. Similarly, the Managing and Leading Education stream prepares professionals for leadership roles by focusing on analytics, innovation, and resilience in educational settings.The Graduate Diploma of Specialist Education provides flexible study options, enabling students to complete the program online or on campus, full-time or part-time.
