Course Curriculum

Every re-enrolling student is guaranteed the opportunity to complete their current course of study. Continuing students are encouraged to consider transferring to the newest course version to benefit from updated and enhanced program content, though those choosing to remain in their existing version should consult any applicable transitional arrangements. For clarification on course progression or related concerns, contact Student Central via freecall 1800 061 963 or student.central@cdu.edu.au.The Diploma requires successful completion of 8 units totalling 80 credit points across two semesters, with 4 units studied each semester. All units carry 10 credit points unless otherwise specified and are delivered with five contact hours per week over a 12-week teaching semester, resulting in 20 total weekly contact hours. The structure comprises 7 core units worth 70 credit points and 1 specialist elective worth 10 credit points. Core units include IDC104 Language, Literacy and Sustainability (replacing IDC101 from 2025), IDC103 Business and Professional Communications, IDC202 Cultural Capabilities (replacing IDC102 from 2025), IDB101 Quantitative Analysis for Business, IDB102 Introduction to Business Law, IDB103 Introduction to Management, and IDB104 Business Economics. The specialist elective is chosen from IDA101 Introduction to Accounting (Accounting stream, not offered in 2026) or IDM101 Fundamentals of Marketing (Business stream). Course rules align with the Higher Education Course Rules (Award Requirements) outlined in the Units and Courses Policy.For 2025 transitional arrangements, IDC104 replaces IDC101 Academic Literacies Through Exploring Sustainability, and IDC202 replaces IDC102 Cultural Intelligence and Capability. Students who completed IDC101 or IDC102 prior to 2025 must not enrol in the respective replacement units to avoid duplication and ensure correct credit recognition.
