Course Curriculum

The Master of Project Management at CQUniversity is designed to provide advanced knowledge and practical skills for professionals seeking leadership roles in project management across various industries. Depending on the chosen stream, students complete 18 or 19 units, totaling 96 credits, which include a combination of core units, a four-unit minor, and four elective units. The core structure comprises 10 or 11 units, providing foundational project management knowledge and skills. Core units include Project Management Concepts, Initiating and Planning Projects, Leading Lean Projects, Executing and Closing Projects, Contract and Procurement Management, Portfolio and Program Management, and Research Proposal, ensuring students develop technical expertise in project planning, execution, and evaluation, as well as stakeholder and team management.Students then select one of three streams—Practicum, Research, or Internship—tailoring their studies to align with career goals. The Practicum Stream focuses on hands-on learning through the Project Management Practicum, supplemented by units such as Think Big, Effective Business Communications, and Complex Project Management. The Research Stream emphasizes analytical and investigative skills, including Complex Project Management and two Research Project units. The Internship Stream provides practical industry experience through the Project Management Internship, complemented by units in management, communication, and complex project execution.Additionally, students complete a four-unit minor and four elective units, allowing them to specialise further or broaden their knowledge in areas such as strategic management, business ethics, finance, or organisational development. This structure equips graduates with a comprehensive understanding of project management principles, advanced problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to lead complex projects effectively.Graduates of the Master of Project Management are prepared for senior and specialist roles in project management, including project directors, program managers, and portfolio managers, with the skills to manage diverse teams, implement best practices, and drive organisational success in both national and global contexts.
