Course Curriculum

This course is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the public health field, requiring the completion of eight units that total 48 credits. The program is designed with six core units that build the essential knowledge and skills necessary for public health professionals, alongside two elective units that allow students to shape their learning pathway according to their career aspirations and interests. The core units focus on equipping students with both foundational theories and applied practices that address health issues at individual, community, and global levels.The six core units cover a wide range of critical topics. Understanding Public Health introduces students to the key concepts, determinants, and frameworks that underpin the discipline. Systems Thinking in Public Health develops the ability to approach health problems in complex and interconnected ways, ensuring holistic solutions. Epidemiology and Statistics provides the technical expertise needed to collect, analyze, and interpret health data to inform evidence-based decisions. Global Public Health examines pressing international health challenges, highlighting the role of globalization, inequality, and policy in shaping health outcomes across populations. Social Innovation and Health: Human-Centred Design Thinking encourages innovative and creative approaches to tackling health problems through community-focused, design-led solutions. Finally, Communicable Diseases addresses the control, prevention, and management of infectious diseases, ensuring graduates are equipped to respond to major public health threats.Beyond these core areas, the two elective units offer students the chance to specialize in topics that align with their professional goals, whether in policy, health promotion, or other emerging areas of public health practice. By blending theoretical knowledge with applied skills, the program prepares graduates to take on roles in government, non-government organizations, health services, and global agencies.
