The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Diploma of Professional Practice (Co-op Engineering) requires the completion of either 32 or 33 units, totalling 234 credits, depending on your chosen major. The structure of the program is designed to provide a balance between strong theoretical foundations, practical engineering knowledge, and extensive industry experience. The course consists of three key components: a core structure of 11 units, one additional core unit chosen from two options, and a major sequence of 20 or 21 units depending on your specialisation. The core units cover essential areas of engineering knowledge, mathematics, business, and professional practice. You will begin with units such as Introduction to Contemporary Engineering (ENEG11005), Engineering Industry Project Investigation (ENEG11007), and Materials for Engineers (ENEG11008), the latter supported by a residential school to ensure practical learning. To support your analytical and problem-solving skills, you will also complete a sequence of mathematics units including Foundation Mathematics (MATH11247), Applied Mathematics (MATH11218), and Applied Calculus (MATH11219).Professional practice is a major focus of the program, with industry placement embedded across several units. Industry Practice 1 (ENEP11006), Industry Practice 2 (ENEP12010), and Industry Practice Review (ENEP11010) provide structured opportunities to apply your learning in real engineering environments, supported by Engineering Employment Preparation (ENEP11007) to ensure you are workplace-ready. You will also develop business and leadership skills through Engineering Business Fundamentals (ENEP12007) and then choose between Engineering Leadership (ENEP12008) or Humanitarian Engineering Project (ENEG13001), depending on your interests and career goals.Together, these core units integrate theory, practice, and professional development, while your chosen major allows you to specialise in a field such as civil, mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering. By combining rigorous academic study with 48 weeks of paid industry placement, the program ensures you graduate as a highly skilled and experienced professional engineer with a competitive edge in the job market.
