In the first year of the Bachelor of Actuarial Science program at Bond University, you will focus on completing essential introductory and intermediate level subjects that form the foundation of actuarial knowledge. This includes eight required subjects covering a range of key topics such as mathematical statistics, linear modelling and econometrics, stochastic processes, and survival analysis. Alongside these technical subjects, you will also study basic principles of economics, accounting, finance, and quantitative methods, providing a broad understanding of the financial and business contexts in which actuarial work takes place. The curriculum is designed to equip you with strong analytical and mathematical skills necessary for success in the actuarial profession. Additionally, you will have the option to include an elective or select a subject from one of the available majors, allowing you to tailor your studies to your interests or career goals. In the second year, your studies will advance with six intermediate subjects that deepen your knowledge in specialized areas such as financial mathematics, contingent payment methods, corporate finance, and actuarial and financial models. These subjects are essential for developing the technical expertise required for actuarial practice. Alongside these core subjects, you will complete six electives, which may be chosen from a variety of majors available within the university. This flexibility allows you to explore complementary fields or gain additional skills that support your career aspirations. To enhance your practical experience, you have the opportunity to undertake a study tour or a business internship as part of your elective subjects, providing real-world exposure and industry connections. Additionally, in your final year, you can choose to participate in an International Semester or Exchange Program, broadening your global perspective and professional network. This study overview is based on a full-time study load starting in the January semester, providing a structured and comprehensive pathway through the actuarial science degree.
