Course Curriculum

The Undergraduate Certificate in Business is a structured pathway program that provides students with a solid foundation in key areas of business knowledge and practice. The course consists of four units, with each unit carrying six credit points, bringing the total requirement to 24 credit points for completion. This certificate is designed to give students both flexibility and focus, as they can choose any four units from a selection of subjects offered across two semesters, allowing them to shape their learning experience around personal interests, career goals, or future study pathways. In Semester 1, students can select from units such as Foundations of Wellbeing, which explores health and personal development in the workplace; Organisations in a Business Context, which introduces the structure and function of businesses; Introduction to Accounting, which covers the basics of financial record-keeping and reporting; and Information Technology Systems in Business, which examines how technology supports and drives business operations. These units provide an excellent starting point for students who want to develop broad, practical business skills. In Semester 2, students may choose from Introduction to Economics, which builds understanding of market systems and economic decision-making; Business Statistics, which equips students with analytical and data interpretation skills; and Business Law, which introduces key legal principles relevant to business operations. In addition, students can choose one further specialised unit from Financial Accounting and Reporting, Consumer Behaviour, or Organisational Behaviour, depending on whether they want to strengthen their technical accounting knowledge, explore marketing perspectives on consumer decision-making, or study workplace dynamics and management practices. This flexible structure ensures that students are exposed to a balance of theoretical concepts and practical applications, while also enabling them to focus on areas of personal relevance.
