Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Psychological Science at ACAP University College is structured to provide both depth and flexibility in psychological education. The course consists of 24 units in total, including 13 core units and 11 electives, which are spread across three academic levels: 100, 200, and 300. Core units focus on building foundational knowledge and advanced understanding of psychological theories, research, and practice. At the 100 level, students take introductory subjects such as Foundational Psychological Processes and Psychology: History, Science and Application 1, along with interdisciplinary units that develop contextual and professional skills. In the 200-level units, students explore more specific psychological domains such as cognition, biological bases of behaviour, and lifespan development. By the 300 level, the curriculum shifts towards more advanced topics including abnormal psychology, assessment of individual differences, and social and community psychology, providing a comprehensive understanding of the field. Students are also encouraged to tailor their studies by choosing electives from a range of disciplines including psychology, social welfare, criminology, and counselling. This interdisciplinary approach allows students to broaden their knowledge and align their learning with specific career interests. The course is designed to be completed in three years of full-time study, but students have the flexibility to study part-time for up to eight years.
