The Bachelor of Criminology and Justice at ACAP is an engaging and career-focused degree that explores the causes and consequences of criminal behaviour and the functioning of the justice system. This program is designed for individuals who are passionate about public safety, legal systems, and understanding the minds of offenders. It provides students with a strong foundation in criminological theory, legal studies, and justice-related practice. Accredited by the Australian College of Applied Professions (ACAP) under its self-accrediting authority, the course ensures students gain both academic knowledge and applied skills relevant to the criminal justice field.Structured across three levels, the degree comprises core and elective units and can be studied full-time or part-time. At Level 100, students are introduced to key areas such as Theoretical Criminology, Foundations of Justice, Crime and the Media, Ethics and Criminal Justice, and Diversity and Justice. Foundational interdisciplinary subjects like Applications in Context, Professions and Society, and Sustainability are also covered. In Level 200, the focus shifts to applied learning and comparative perspectives with subjects such as Innovative Justice, Applied Criminology, Drugs and Crime, Indigenous Peoples and Justice, and Transnational Crime. Students also explore Crime Prevention and Penology, deepening their understanding of corrections and systemic responses to crime.Level 300 brings advanced insight into critical issues in the justice system, including Gender and Crime, Victimology, and Mental Health and Criminal Justice. A practicum unit gives students valuable real-world experience in a justice-related setting. Four electives throughout the program allow students to tailor their studies to areas of interest or emerging career goals.Graduates of this program are prepared for roles in policing, corrections, youth justice, community advocacy, and policy development, with a strong grounding in both theory and practice to address complex justice challenges in modern society.
