Course Curriculum

The Project Stream of ACU’s Master of Public Health with a Global Health and Advocacy specialisation is a full-time, two-year program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical experience in global public health. In Year 1 Semester 1, students complete foundational public health units including PUBH610 History and Principles of Public Health, PUBH620 Biostatistics, PUBH630 Determinants of Health, and HLSC641 Introduction to Health Sciences Research, delivered online in a scheduled format. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with PUBH611 Health Promotion, PUBH621 Epidemiology, PUBH631 Disease Prevention and Management, and PUBH632 Public Health Law and Policy, equipping students with core public health principles, analytical skills, and policy understanding. In Year 2 Semester 1, students focus on the Global Health and Advocacy specialisation with PUBH640 Global Health and Sustainable Development and PUBH641 Humanitarian Assistance and Health, both delivered on campus, alongside PUBH649 Preparation for Practice, which has prerequisites in PUBH620 and PUBH611 and integrates with other project units. Students may also select an elective unit. Semester 2 includes PUBH642 Global Nutrition and Food Security, PUBH643 Health Advocacy, and PUBH655 Practice Placement, providing hands-on, supervised experience in global health settings, along with another elective unit. All units are delivered in multi-mode unless otherwise indicated, allowing a combination of flexible online learning and on-campus engagement. This structure ensures that graduates develop the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies needed to address global health challenges, advocate for population health, and apply evidence-informed strategies in diverse international contexts.
