The Pathway 1 course structure for students admitted under Admission Requirement A consists of 140 credit points delivered across two years of full-time study. In Year 1, Semester 1, students complete four core dietetic units: Contemporary Dietetic Practice Theory and Application, Dietetic Practice with Individuals, Dietetic Practice with Groups, and Research in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics 1, each worth 10 credit points. These units focus on building foundational knowledge in clinical dietetics, group education, community practice, and introductory research skills.In Year 1, Semester 2, students progress into more advanced and applied learning. They undertake Individual Case Management Theory and Placement, which builds upon earlier individual practice units and includes supervised practical experience. They also complete Entrepreneurial Dietetic Practice, which introduces innovation and business-related skills, and Research in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics 2, continuing to develop their research capabilities and preparing them for evidence-based professional practice.At the beginning of Year 2, during the Summer Term, students complete Engaging with Communities, a placement-based unit that focuses on understanding and contributing to public health nutrition within local or international community settings.In Year 2, Semester 1, students continue to refine their skills through Practice Placement 2, Dietetic Practice and Management, and Dietetic Practice Through Advocacy and Policy. These units strengthen competence in professional management, leadership, and policy engagement within health and nutrition contexts.In Year 2, Semester 2, students undertake two major placement units: Practice Placement 3 and Practice Placement 4. These placements total 30 credit points and provide extensive supervised practice across clinical, community, and food service dietetics. By the end of the course, students are fully prepared for professional practice as competent and work-ready dietitians.
