The Master’s program in Clinical Exercise Physiology is structured across two academic years and includes a mix of theoretical coursework, clinical skills training, and professional experience. In Year 1, Semester 1, students build foundational knowledge through four core units: Clinical Assessment and Exercise for Musculoskeletal Conditions of the Lower Limb, Cardiopulmonary Conditions, Neurological Conditions, and Lifestyle and Exercise Counselling. Each unit, worth 10 credit points, focuses on assessment and intervention strategies tailored to specific body systems and conditions, while also emphasizing communication and behavior change to support client health outcomes. In Semester 2, students progress to advanced clinical topics, including musculoskeletal issues of the trunk and upper limb, chronic and complex conditions, and occupational assessment and rehabilitation. A capstone subject, Responsible Clinical Practice, integrates knowledge from previous units and requires completion of key prerequisites, ensuring students are clinically competent and prepared for real-world scenarios. This unit emphasizes ethical, safe, and evidence-based practice. In Year 2, the focus shifts to hands-on clinical experience. In Professional Term 1, students undertake Clinical Experience 1, applying their knowledge in supervised settings. They also select one elective unit offered online, providing flexibility and the opportunity to explore specialized topics or interests. Professional Terms 2 and 4 continue the clinical placement sequence with Clinical Experience 2 and Clinical Experience 3, each building on the last, to refine practical skills, critical thinking, and client management in real-life settings. These placements are essential for bridging theory and practice, helping students meet industry competencies. All units are delivered in a flexible multi-mode format unless otherwise stated, accommodating diverse learning needs. Overall, the program is designed to develop advanced clinical reasoning, therapeutic skills, and professional readiness, enabling graduates to work effectively as accredited exercise physiologists across a variety of healthcare environments.
