Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Information Technology at ACU is a three-year full-time program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of information technology, combining foundational knowledge, technical expertise, and practical experience to prepare graduates for careers in a rapidly evolving industry. In the first year, students build core IT skills and understanding through units such as Information Technology in Action, Fundamentals of Information Technology, Data and Information Management, and Cybersecurity for Everyone, alongside Programming Concepts and Managing People and Organisations, complemented by a core curriculum unit and an elective to develop transferable skills. The second year advances technical competence and applied knowledge through Data Management and Visualisation, Introduction to Cyber Security, Advanced Programming Concepts, and Cybersecurity Policy, Governance and Ethics, with additional electives and a community engagement unit that integrates practical experience and professional development. In the third year, students consolidate their learning through applied projects and professional practice, including the Information Technology Project sequence, Web and Mobile Application Development, Work Integrated Learning, and Cybersecurity Risk Management, alongside core curriculum units and electives. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, project management, software engineering, and the application of IT knowledge to real-world challenges, ensuring students graduate with both technical and professional capabilities. Throughout the degree, students are encouraged to develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and cross-cultural communication skills, preparing them for global work environments.
